Artists › Adam McDonagh

Adam McDonagh graduated from the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama with First Class Honours in the Bachelor of Music Performance degree, studying piano under Dr Mary Lennon. He is currently engaged in postgraduate studies with Dr Orla McDonagh in the DIT Conservatory, as well as harpsichord with Dr David Adams in the RIAM.

He has performed in concerts as a soloist, accompanist and chamber musician in venues such as the National Concert Hall, Hugh Lane Gallery, Mansion House, Dublin, the National Opera House in Wexford, the Ulster Hall, Belfast, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London, and music festivals in Finland, Italy, Scotland and Switzerland. He has performed concertos with the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland Camerata, and the DIT Symphony Orchestra. Other highlights include performing on both RTÉ radio and television, a performance in the RDS Rising Stars Gala Concert, and representing Ireland as a competitor in the 10th Dublin International Piano Competition in 2015. Adam won second prize in the Irish Freemasons Young Musician of the Year competition.

Adam has taken masterclasses with Philippe Cassard, Barry Douglas, Vanessa Latarche, John Lill, Ronan O’Hora, Antti Siirala, and private lessons with Christopher Elton. He works extensively as a collaborative pianist and has acted as accompanist in the masterclasses of Patricia Bardon, Ailish Tynan, Dame Ann Murray, and Maxim Vengerov. He will be continuing his studies on a scholarship in Cambridge University in this coming year.
