Artists › Peter Ryan 

Peter Ryan is studying with Akiko Ono in the Yehudi Menuhin School, UK.  He began the violin aged 7 with Maria Kelemen and later with David O’Doherty in Tu Dublin Conservatoire.  Peter thrilled audiences across Ireland with his exciting Late Late Show appearance in 2020 alongside his brother Liam. 

Peter is leader of the Ulster Youth Orchestra (UYO).  He plays the ‘Milton Violin’ on generous loan from the ArtsCouncil of Northern Ireland and a Gary Leahy bow on loan from an anonymous donor. Peter is a member of NYOGB and a previous member of the NYOI.  Last year Peter performed in the Royal Albert Hall, Rudolf Steiner House London and in the Irish Cultural Centre by invitation of Irish Heritage UK.

Peter has won many prestigious competitions, inlcuding the Hugh Bean Competition in the RCM and Grand Prize Virtuoso Competition.  He recently played a solo recital in Barcelona as prize-winner.  He is an ambassador for the New Talent Festival at the RAM 2023.  

As a multiple Feis Ceoil prize-winner, he has performed in their gala concert and showcase concerts in the past.

Peter was runner up in Nicola Benedetti’s online international Elgar competition and was thrilled to play with Nicola and her orchestra in the V&A museum in Dundee. Peter has received masterclasses from world renowned pedagogues inlcuding Maxim Vengerov, Krill Troussov, Tasmin Little, Elly Suh, Maxim Rysanov, Ani Schnarch, Gwendalyn Masin and Darragh Morgan.

Previous festivals include the West Wicklow Chamber Music Festival, Chamber Music on Valentia, Boyle Arts Festival and Mozarteum Summer Academy.
