Irish soprano, Kelley Lonergan, has been described by The Irish Times as "a natural” and “the type of voice one could predict an exciting future for”. She is a recipient of several awards, including the esteemed RDS Music Bursary 2013, which is the largest bursary on offer to young musicians in Ireland. Kelley was also a multiple prizewinner during the 2013 Feis Ceoil, Dublin, prizes include the Gervase Elwes Cup for best overall singer of the competition.
Kelley graduated from the CIT Cork School of Music with first class honours in both her BMus and Masters in Performance. In 2012, while on Erasmus, she had the opportunity to study singing at the Conservatorio di Verona, Italy. She then went on to study at the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama.
Kelley has sung all over Ireland as a soloist, chamber musician and chorus member. She made her solo debut with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra in the National Concert Hall in a concert entitled "Ciao Italia” which was broadcast live on Lyric FM. She has also performed with Irish National Opera and Wexford Festival Opera. In 2018, “Front of House” presented by Ulysses Opera Theatre & Cork Opera House was nominated for Best Opera in the Irish Times Theatre Awards in which Kelley sang a main role.
Kelley has taught both singing and piano for many years, and is passionate about sharing her knowledge with enthusiastic students. Many of her students receive top marks, some of which have won prizes in Feis Maitiú. She has also become an examiner for the Royal Irish Academy of Music in recent years.
